ADVANCED PLACEMENT MUSIC THEORY

The advanced placement (AP) music theory course follows the guidelines of the College Entrance Examination Board. Advanced placement music theory includes the study of notation, harmony, dictation, aural skills, sight-singing and part-writing on a first semester college level.

Prerequisites: Students wishing to elect Advanced Placement Music Theory must meet at least one of the following criteria: participation in a school performing ensemble or successful demonstration of basic reading skills in an interview/audition with the course teacher. Students electing this course should be fluent music readers.
