Visual Arts Subject Overview
Art classes at the Derry Township School District support the mission, "Engaging all students every day to help them achieve their greatest potential as global citizens." Our art programs encourage all students to communicate, collaborate, and create through making art.
The district art curriculum empowers student learners to build a strong foundation in art history, art production, art skills and knowledge. In addition, all learners will participate in class critiques and discussions of their art projects and famous artworks.
The curriculum framework is built upon experiences in drawing, painting, and three-dimensional design on all levels to include grades one through twelve. These young artists will be prepared for real world challenges through skills gained in critical thinking, creativity, communication and collaboration.
